Rural New Yorkers are questioning whether states or towns determine where wind zones are located and if a state entity will regulate the transparency of lucrative deals in renewable energy products.

In Colorado, Bill Ritter's Climate Action Plan, has produced "green" grants and is trying to reduce the size of carbon footprints in Colorado.  One news item pinpoints Colorado utilities as the spur behind production in renewable energy.

The Yahoo online discussion group that I participate in, Feminist Peace Network, posted this tribute to Barbara Lee and protecting the sexual health of young people.

http://www.feministpeacenetwork.org/2008/08/14/barbara-lee-gets-it-right-about-aids-policy-pepfar-and-so-much-more/ I sent Ken Salazar and said that I thought his complacency about the global gag rule made him resemble a Republican and made me question whether I should have voted for him.  At the time that he took office though, Colorado didn't have a Democrat U.S. Senator.  I would like Mark Udall to not be so conservative.
Check out the editorial Vince Carroll wrote regarding the cheap stunt Bob Schaffer pulled at the debate: namely reading only the first part of Mark's resolution to stop the war in its tracks (which rightly described Saddam Hussein as the brutal tyrant that he was) calling it Mark Udall's "declaration of war."

It was too much even for Vince Carroll to take.

If you fail to look closely, you could easily conclude that the supposedly anti-war Udall was actually on the same page as the congressional majority that ultimately did authorize war - and that Udall's vote against their resolution amounted to splitting hairs.

That's rubbish. Schaffer should cut it out.
Republican candidate for the senate Bob Schaffer was accused of oil profiteering in Kurdish regions of Iraq while he was an oil executive for Aspect Energy.

According to a Washington Post article, John Ensign, a Nevada Republican Senator, has stalled the housing bill because he believes it to be unsustainable without tax credits for renewable energy development.  The Senate Banking Chairman, Chris Dodd, says this tactic places the whole bipartison housing package at risk.
Yesterday, Derrick Jackson wrote an editorial for the Boston Globe about the U.S. energy companies that were to benefit from no-bid contracts with the Iraqi government.  Since I had previously read about Aspect Energy's ties to Bob Schaffer online at 9news, I'm wondering if Aspect Energy is one of the winners in this deal.
The whole Udall for Colorado crew took part in the Juneteenth Parade in Denver's historic Five Points Neighborhood on Saturday.

The crowd was great, the weather was gorgeous, and the food was fantastic. Here are a few of the photos we took along the route and at the festival:

Kathleen Sebelius, the Governor of Kansas, promoted Kansas as a leader in renewable energy at the American Wind Energy Association's Wind Power 2008 Conference.  In her remarks at the conference, she cited a poll by the Land Institute which showed 3 out of 4 Kansans want a comprehensive energy strategy.

In Colorado, Ken Salazar advocates renewable enery investment as a means for Americans to achieve independence.  He thinks tax incentives are the answer.

A relative of my boss took along a camera with her run so I thought I would post it.
It seems as if tomorrow night will mark the end of the epic contest for the 2008 Democratic nomination. Hillary has recently taken a more conciliatory tone with her democratic rival and has called upon her top donors to attend a speech in New York on Tuesday.   Read More »
