So what is the difference between Facebook and MarkUdall.com?
For me, the biggest difference is that I can't see putting my time into Facebook for the purpose of socializing. I'd rather meet people than type and stare at a screen.
Getting Mark elected to the Senate is important to me, so I'll give MarkUdall.com a try in the hope that it helps the campaign.
Facebook is a closed environment - new or would be users can't see Facebook content until they join Facebook. I'm hoping MarkUdall.com is more public - but I'll bet its not. That would be awfully risky on the campaign's part to let any effectively anonymous internet user post to a publicly viewable page on the campaign web site.
Another difference is that Facebook already has the critical mass to be a commercial success. MarkUdall.com is still in the experimental stage.

Not only that, but Mark has always made it his first priority to listen to and stand up for people--both supporters and critics. As he likes to say, you can disagree without being disagreeable. And moving the country forward requires us all to collaborate--not just those who agree all the time.
Hopefully the biggest difference between markudall.com & facebook is that markudall.com participants have a shared purpose in supporting Mark's senate bid.
I would argue that "experimental" is not the best adjective to describe MarkUdall.com. These tools have worked for other campaigns and organization. Think my.barackobama.com or komen.org. However, MarkUdall.com, is undoubtedly in its developmental stages and is relying on people like you to make it work.
